Nearly 200 people walked out of a show by Amy Schumer, who is an outspoken Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter, when she decided to bring politics into her comedy.
Schumer was performing at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, which caps at roughly 20,000, and was the site of the 2012 Republican National Convention. All in all, the dozens who left the show didn’t make much difference to the sizable crowd.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Schumer got about halfway through her routine before discussing politics with the crowd, voicing her confusion on how anyone could support Donald Trump. She asked a Trump supporter to come on stage and explain their enthusiasm for the candidate.
Eventually some audience members started booing, and Schumer was unfazed, inviting unhappy fans to leave and asking security to remove anyone booing. It is not known if the fans chose to leave because they support Trump and were offended, or if they just didn’t want to talk politics at a comedy show.
Some, however, appreciated her commentary.
