‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Production Staff Sign Statement Denying Fights Between Florence Pugh & Olivia Wilde

The new film Don’t Worry Darling, which stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as residents of an idyllic company town where all the men in the town work at a top-secret project while the women life as The Stepford Wives-esque housewives, has been mired by rumors of drama between its star Pugh and director Olivia Wilde.

Because of these discussions, several crew members of the film have made the unusual choice of issuing a statement denying “Any allegations about unprofessional behavior” from the set of Don’t Worry Darling. About 40 production staff, with titles from the Director of Photography, to the set dressers, to the lighting crew members, and even staff on the assistant level like production and director’s assistants, signed the statement.

There were rumors that Wilde frustrated Pugh because she was more focused on directing the male lead, and her new boyfriend, Styles. One blind item alleged that Pugh even had to step in and direct scenes herself. There was also a rumor that recently cropped up that Pugh and Wilde got into a “screaming match,” and other issues about casting that came up during the film’s festival run.

They said that Wilde was “an incredible leader and director” and said she “ran this set with class and respect for everyone involved.”

They also specifically responded to the rumor of a screaming match, claiming “There was never a screaming match between our director and anyone, let alone a member of our cast.”

Some fans had also noted that Pugh was relatively silent about the film before its Venice Film Festival premiere. She did no interviews about it, even missing the official Venice press junket, and her social media was silent about the project until it premiered in theaters on September 23.

Pugh finally let loose several posts about the film at that point, with some kindly worded captions as well.

Along with several photos from the set, Pugh also wrote in the caption, “This film was such an epic story on such a large scale to shoot, all while during peak Covid times. For that I will always be grateful. To all of you who helped make this, your dedication and love was seen daily – thank you.”
