Brooke Shields is recalling a certain encounter she had with former President Donald Trump in the 1990s during her new cabaret act, Fame Is Weird.

During an interview with The New York Times, she discussed the opener to her act: a story about Trump asking her to date him.

“I was making some movie in the late ’90s. My phone rang, and it was him,” she recalled.

According to Shields, Trump boldly said, “You and I should date. You’re America’s sweetheart, and I’m the world’s richest man. People will love it.”

When recounting the offer, Shields admits that she was holding back laughter as she told Trump, “Thank you, I’m very flattered, but I have a boyfriend, and I don’t think he would appreciate me stepping out on him.”

Shields remembers Trump’s arrogant response, in which he told her she was “making a big mistake.”

The Pretty Baby actress first told the story in 2017 on Watch What Happens Live and said the call occurred in 1999, around Trump’s divorce from Marla Maples.

This spring, Shields was featured in a documentary about her life.

Trump is currently facing 91 criminal counts for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Nearly half of all the funds donated to him are now going toward his legal defense, a recent FCC filing showed.
