Former President Donald Trump is still upset about the joke Jimmy Kimmel made at the 96th Academy Awards at his expense.
On March 10, Oscar host Kimmel responded to Trump after he made a post about him on Truth Social during the ceremony.
“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars,” the former president wrote. “His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.”
“Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos [Stephanopoulos],” he added. “He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous.”
“Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years – Disjointed, boring, and very unfair,” Trump claimed. “Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Before he introduced Al Pacino to the stage to present the Best Picture award, Kimmel read Trump’s post and referenced his legal challenges.
“Blah, blah, blah . . . Ok, now, see if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social,” the host stated. “Anyone? No? Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re still – isn’t it past your jail time?”
This response ended up going viral on social media.
On March 17, the former president was asked on Fox News about his feud with Kimmel.
“Now look, look, Jimmy Kimmel is – every night he hits me I guess,” Trump said. “His ratings are terrible. He’s not a talented guy.”
“I hear he hits me all the time, so I figured I’d hit him because I thought he was a lousy host,” he declared.
“I put it out on Truth [Social] – which is on fire by the way – Truth Social is doing great,” Trump added. “I never expected [Kimmel] was going to be reading it just prior to the movie of the year which is the big one right? That’s the big one – I think they get the man, the woman, now the movie of the year.”
Trump also pointed out that the host had been told by someone backstage not to read the post aloud, which Kimmel confirmed after the show.
“Now the big story is that they all begged him not to do it,” Trump continued. “‘Don’t do it.’ He probably stupidly, you know, he had to act in a short period of time, like minutes, right? He had minutes because he’s on air. He sees this thing and he wants to go out there and he wants to, I guess confront me and so … he ends up reading my Truth. I said, ‘This guy’s even dumber than I thought.'”
“The thing went viral, it’s been all over the world now, and all he had to do is keep his mouth shut,” he recounted.
Kimmel responded to Trump’s remarks on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, saying how he enjoyed that his response at the Oscars bothered Trump.
“I guess I shouldn’t be surprised,” he admitted. “I mean Donald Trump has said I’m not talented so many times Eric [Trump] is starting to get jealous.”
“But what he doesn’t realize is that I love this,” Kimmel declared. “I love that this bothered him so much I love that Fox picks a news guy nobody knows to interview him and I especially love when he tries to spin the fact that everyone was laughing at him into a positive.”
After playing a clip of Trump’s Fox interview, Kimmel claimed that Trump forgot “why it went viral all over the world.”
“Not only were they laughing at you on Oscar Sunday, they – there are now dozens of past your jail time shirts for sale,” he added. “There are mugs there are tank tops. There’s an ‘Isn’t it past your jail time’ backpack people are riding it outside the Trump Hotel. There are billboards – there are billboards in Pennsylvania, in Florida and there are a lot more to come.”
On February 17, former Rep. George Santos (R-New York), sued Kimmel for using his Cameo clips and sought $750,000 in damages from the television host, ABC and Disney.
According to Santos, Kimmel paid him to make dozens of videos without knowing they would be featured on his show.
The former representative was unaware that Kimmel, who used an alias, requested the videos. His suit cites violations of Cameo’s terms of service, his copyright and potential fraud.
Kimmel claimed that Santos suing him for fraud was ironic, saying that it was a “dream come true.”
Meanwhile, last week, Trump filed a lawsuit against Stephanopoulos for saying he “raped” a woman on air.
