Mike Pence wrapped up his speech following his acceptance of the Republican vice presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night — when Donald Trump congratulated him with an air kiss.

Trump awkwardly leaned into Pence and puckered his lips to press a kiss against Pence’s cheek — but hit nothing but air — as Pence moved away from Trump’s intimate greeting and settled for an arm grab and a handshake.

Social media couldn’t help but make fun of the awkward moment and posted funny memes and tweets highlighting the incident.
