Donald Trump Confuses Internet With “Covfefe” Tweet, Inspires Joke Tweets
Donald Trump posted an incomplete tweet in the early minutes of Wednesday, sending the Internet into a frenzy of jokes and confusion.
TRUMP SPARKS NEW MEME WITH “COVFEFE” TWEET
“Despite the constant negative press covfefe,” was all the tweet read, which has been since deleted. Trump’s tweet came at 12:06 a.m. and did not return to the site for response until just after 6:00 a.m., leaving ample time for the Internet to run wild with the possible meanings of “covfefe.”
Alyssa Milano joked that “#Covfefe means resign in Russian,” alluding to the speculated ties to Russia and Russian president Vladimir Putin that Trump has and used during the election. Another user said, “my phone keeps autocorrecting #covfefe to “pls impeach me” ??.”

Before too long, #covfefe was the top trending hashtag on Twitter. The social media site even created a “moment” for people to discuss the typo that had consumed its users overnight.

“Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’ ??? Enjoy!” Trump tweeted out, presumably once he noticed his error. He also deleted his initial tweet, as he does with most of his tweets containing typos, and replaced it with two of his more usual anti-Democrat sentiments.
