Dominic West has revealed that he had a falling out with Prince Harry in real life.

West, who played Prince Harry’s father in the final few seasons of The Crown, said that he isn’t on speaking terms with him anymore.

“I said too much in a press conference and so we didn’t speak after that,” West said. “I think I was asked what we did to celebrate when we got there and probably said something too much.”

West and Harry’s friendship started when the two teamed up during a 2013 trip to Antarctica with the charity Walking with the Wounded, a charity that supports former service members in the British armed forces transition back into normal life.

Jonathan Pryce, who played King Phillip, was also present during the interview. He chimed in during a question if he had any feedback from the royals on his portrayal.

“Nothing official,” Pryce said. One of our cast met one of the royal family who intimated that they watched it.”

Pryce then elaborated with a story of him being knighted.

“When I was made a knight and went to Windsor, and it was Princess Anne who dubbed me, and I was in the middle of playing her father, and there’d been intimations that she’d seen some of it. And so she put the sword lightly on the shoulder, and I stood up and I said – thinking she was thinking, you know – I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know what to say to you. Um, sorry?’ And she said, ‘Why? It’s done now.’ ”

Pryce and West were interviewed for their roles in The Crown, a historical drama series about the British Royal family. The final episodes were released on December 14, 2023.
