LeGrand Gold, a man with stage four colorectal cancer, got his dying wish to meet Dolly Parton.

In December, he received from Parton allowing him to have one of his ten dying wishes, which were written on a napkin, granted.

Gold has been battling cancer since 2021. In early December, he was given bad news during a doctor’s visit.

“The scans showed the cancer spreading and getting outside of my liver, and so they said the chemo is not working anymore, the radiation is not working anymore,” Gold told CNN. “They just sent me home and said be with your family.”

On December 25, Gold’s wife, Alice Wills Gold, posted a reel on Instagram showing a video of him speaking to Parton over the phone.

“And I forgot to tell you all that Papa G got to meet Dolly P! Wishes come true! Dream big, y’all,” Wills Gold wrote in the caption.

“You’re making the day of so many people right now,” Gold’s wife told Parton in the video.

“Oh well, I’m just happy to know I’ve got a fan that devoted,” Parton said.

“I’m doing pretty good right now actually,” Gold stated.

“Well good,” she stated. “Well, I’ve heard you’ve been a fan of mine for many years, and I just wanted to thank you for that.”

“Well it’s my honor, too,” he responded.

“I understand you’re a lawyer,” Parton brought up. “I should’ve had you on my [legal] team all these years.”

“You don’t need any lawyers, Dolly,” Wills Gold declared. “You do everything right.”

“Well, I’ve got good people, I’m surrounded with good people,” Parton responded. “I’ve had a few good lawyers in my life. I’ve had a couple of bad ones but more good than bad I think.”

“Well LG, I really thank you for shooting out the word that you’d like to talk to me,” Parton stated. “I’m just happy that we got to kind of have our journey together in this lifetime. I always want to make people happy with my music, and with the things I do and the things I say.”

“Oh, that’s awesome, yeah,” Gold claimed. “You’ve been a huge help, especially these past two years.”

“We love you for so many reasons, Dolly,” Wills Gold exclaimed. “So I’m gonna help him out but we just want to tell you [that] we love your music, he’s loved you his entire life.”

“I’m glad your kids got to be part of that,” Parton stated.

“It’s amazing,” Wills Gold responded.

“Well all right! Well I hope all of you have a good holiday season,” Parton told them.

“I guess you ain’t feeling too good,” she mentioned. “It [the holiday season] won’t be as good as it ought to be but I just hope this lifts your spirits a little thank you for letting me be your travelling companion and I’ll continue to travel on with you. How’s that LG?”

“Thank you, Dolly,” Gold replied.

“Okay, well you take care, and just know that I will always love you,” Parton stated. “I should’ve sung that, shouldn’t I?”

Parton then sang “I Will Always Love You,” while incorporating the “LG” into it.

“I hope all of you have as good a Christmas as you can,” she told the couple.

In November, Parton’s latest album, Rockstar, was released.

Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, defended her sister on X after she was slammed for the cheerleader costume she wore while performing at the Thanksgiving NFL halftime show.
