Why Didn’t Greg Plitt Get Off The Tracks?

Greg Plitt, the fitness model and Bravo star, died over the weekend after he was hit by a Metrolink train while shooting a new workout video.

Greg Plitt’s Tragic Death

Plitt and two pals were near the tracks when a the conductor of an oncoming train sounded its horn. Despite the conductor’s best efforts, Plitt ended up getting struck by the train, causing many to wonder why he was unable to get off the track.

“It was just a freaky moment where something got out of control,” Plitt’s longtime friend Warren Coulter told CBS News. “No question of it, it was just a mistake.”

Investigators have ruled out suicide and agree that it was likely an accident. Sources have said that Plitt tripped and fell onto the tracks and was unable to get up before the train hit him, reported TMZ. Other witnesses have said that Plitt was standing on the track while the conductor was sounding the horn, according to Burbank police Sgt. Scott Meadows.

Meadow’s believes that Plitt may have believed that the train was coming on a different track. “It’s like a blind turn,” he said. “When the train came, you might not be able to tell which set the train is on.”

A pair of photos of Plitt at the scene, obtained by KTLA, apparently show him standing on the tracks prior to being hit.

Investigators are still trying to determine why Plitt was filming without a permit in a restricted area of the Metrolink tracks on Saturday and if someone directed him and the men filming to do so. Plitt, who appeared on Bravo’s Work Out, had previously filmed on the train tracks for other video projects.
