Derek Medina Charged With First Degree Murder After Killing His Wife And Posting Photo Of Her Body On Facebook

Derek Medina turned himself in after confessing to killing his wife, Jennifer Alfonso, on his Facebook page and posting a photo of her dead body. Medina’s account has since been removed from the social networking site.

Medina, 31, posted a photo of his wife’s body, lying on the floor, covered in blood, with the caption ‘RIP Jennifer Alfonso,’ on his Facebook profile on Thursday. He expanded in a status update, writing, “Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news’ my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” Median wrote.

Medina’s profile was reportedly taken down around 5 p.m. on Thursday – about five hours after the original postings.

According to the Daily Mail, Medina then turned himself in at a Miami police station and admitted that he shot his wife in self defense. Medina’s father, Derek Medina Sr., alleges that Alfonso came at his son with a knife during a dispute, leading him to shoot and kill her.

Speaking to WSVN TV, Medina Sr. said that he brought his son to the police station when he insisted he turn himself in.

“He just said that his wife picked up a knife on him, and they had a big fight, and he shot her. He came to my house and all he said was, ‘I need to go to the police. I need to turn myself in,’” Medina Sr. told the news station.

From there, the police rushed over to Medina’s home where they found Alfonso’s body and her ten-year-old daughter. The daughter, who was not fathered by Medina, was reportedly at home during the shooting that killed her mother, but was unharmed.

Medina and Alfonso had been married twice to each other, once for three years before they divorced, and once again in 2011. Medina Sr. told reporters that the two had a tumultuous relationship, and always had problems.

Medina, whose occupation on Facebook is listed as actor on USA’s Burn Notice (in reality, he was once an extra), writes and publishes self-help books online. Medina is being charged with first degree murder.
