Debra Messing Feuds With Susan Sarandon On Twitter, Tells Actress To ‘STFU’ About Trump

Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon have been feuding on Twitter over the last two years over President Donald Trump and the current political climate, and this week Messing chose to reignite the war.

The 50-year-old Will & Grace actress called out the 71-year-old Oscar winner on Wednesday after sharing a link to a Variety video interview of Sarandon, who spoke about her views on Trump while discussing her upcoming film Viper Club with co-star Matt Bomer at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The tweet from Variety said Sarandon believed Trump had “inspired more women and people of color to run for office,” although it did not use quotation marks in its headline.

“STFU SUSAN,” Messing tweeted, using the shorthand for “Shut the f—k up.” “Oh yes, PLEASE let’s give Trump CREDIT. I mean, how else are you able to walk out on the street? Convince yourself that that this CATASTROPHE of a President who you said was better than [Hillary Clinton] IS NOT ripping children away from parents seeking asylum.”

Messing went on to name all of the terrible things the Trump administration has done, including the immigrant family separations crisis, environmental deregulations, stripping away abortion and healthcare rights, and supporting Russia’s government.

Sarandon replied to Messing’s tweet by writing:

“Debs, before you get yourself all self-righteous try clicking on the video and listening to what I actually say, not @Variety’s clickbait headline, which btw has no quotation marks. That’s a clue…”

When asked in the interview what grade she would give Trump, Sarandon told Variety: “I would tell him to just start all over again. I don’t think we can grade him.”

She continued by saying she believed the most significant thing the president has accomplished is that he has “energized” more women and minorities to run for office, and called this increasing occurrence is a “revolution.”

“Maybe things had to get so bad before real change actually could happen,” Sarandon said. “We just have to stay awake.”

Sarandon famously supported Bernie Sanders during the 2016 election after refusing to back ClintonThe actress repeatedly criticized the former secretary of state on many issues.
