Debby Ryan, Disney Channel Star, Arrested And Charged With DUI

Debby Ryan, who stars on Disney Channel show Jessie, was arrested and charged with a DUI after crashing her Audi into a Mercedes in Los Angeles last week.

Ryan, 22, was driving in L.A. near La Brea Avenue last Thursday, when she took a left turn and got into a car wreck at around 7 p.m., reported KTLA. The driver of the Mercedes reported being injured in the accident.

Police conducted field sobriety tests on the scene, and determined that Ryan was under the influence. During the breathalyzer test, Ryan blew just over the legal limit of .08, .11, reported TMZ.

Ryan was subsequently booked on felony suspicion of a DUI causing bodily harm. Police later opted to bump Ryan’s charge down to a misdemeanor due to the minor nature of the Mercedes driver’s injury, and her relatively low BAC. She is currently out on $100,000 bail.

On Wednesday, Ryan posted to Twitter to take responsibility for the DUI and to apologize for any disappointment she may have caused.

“Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement,” Ryan wrote. “I recognize that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone.”
