David Hasselhoff Engaged To Hayley Roberts

David Hasselhoff recently became engaged to his longtime girlfriend Hayley Roberts.

Hasselhoff proposed to Roberts during a picnic on the beach in Malibu, Calif., People confirmed. “We were both in tears … I genuinely had no idea he was going to do that,” Roberts, who has been dating Hasselhoff for five years, said of the proposal.

The Baywatch star knew that he had to propose to Roberts after realizing that he couldn’t live without her. “I had a saying, ‘You don’t get married because you want to live with someone, you get married because you can’t live without them,'” Hasselhoff, 63, told Hello magazine. “I felt that way. I knew that I was really unhappy without her. I waited to propose because I thought I was too old for her.”

As for Roberts, 36, Hasselhoff’s age is no matter to her. “I don’t want to miss out on being with someone I love because of what might happen down the line,” she said.

Hasselhoff and Roberts have been together since 2011. The marriage will be the third for The Hoff, who was previously married to Pamela Bach for 17 years before divorcing in 2006, and to singer Catherine Hickland for five years in the 80s. With Bach, Hasselhoff has two daughters, who the actor says are supportive of the new marriage.

“I told my girls what I was going to do and they were both really supportive,” he said. “It’s tough. No one wants to see their parents split up. But they love Hayley and they’re just happy for me.”
