‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 25 Finals Part One Recap: Drew Scott Eliminated Before Finals Round

Dancing With The Stars went from four couples to three in the first part of the season 25 finals.

DANCING WITH THE STARS FINALS PART ONE RECAP

This week marks the beginning of the end of DWTS season 25. With just four couples left, one was eliminated last night, and the winner will be awarded the Mirrorball in next week’s finale. Julianne Hough joined the judges’ panel as a guest so scores will be out of 40.

Each couple performed twice, in a redemption round and then the freestyle round. Drew Scott and Emma Slater were up first for a paso doble to “Get Ready” by Rayelle. Bruno Tonioli decided the couple should improve upon their week 6 paso, and they totally do. Scott appears far more in control and confident than past weeks. They earn a 36/40.

Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson do a foxtrot to Frank Sinatra’s “I Won’t Dance” in an attempt to redeem Muniz from his week one performance. He was far more shy back then and oozes confidence this time around. He crushes his solo and Carrie Ann Inaba is impressed. They’re awarded a 38/40.

Next up were Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold who performed a Charleston to “Bad Man” by Pitbull feat. Robin Thicke, Joe Perry, and Travis Barker. They improve upon their week 3 dance and Len Goodman wants to see more traditional Charleston steps this time. And this couple delivers, as they are known to do. They receive 40/40, and at this point I’ve lost track of how many perfect scores this couple has gotten this season.

Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas hop on stage next and have to live up to the performance they’re following, and they certainly do. They redeem their week 2 quickstep with a new routine to “Barflies at the Beach” by Royal Crown Revue. The couple’s week 2 quickstep was pretty good to begin with, but Stirling managed to improve, and Hough is impressed. They also receive a perfect score, 40/40.

Now onto the Freestyle Round. Scott and Slater perform a fun and high energy dance to “The Ding-Dong Daddy of the D-Car Line” by the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy agree to participate as well, which just adds to the greatness of the routine. The dance earns them a score of 39/40, which is the highest score Scott has earned in this competition – is it too late though?

Muniz and Carson do an emotional freestyle, even though producers suggested a more light and fun routine. Muniz says he trusts his partner completely and goes with her idea and it pays off. They do the intense routine to “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid and get a 38/40 for the effort.

Both Fisher and Arnold and Stirling and Ballas earn their second perfect scores of the night with their routines. The former dances to “Puttin’ on the Ritz 2017 (Jazzy Radio Mix)” by Taco feat. tomX and the routine is certainly a showstopper. The latter dances to “Remember the Name” by Fort Minor feat. Styles of Beyond and “Palladio” by Escala. Both routines are fantastic and Stirling is even given the opportunity to dance while playing the violin. The perfect scores are well deserved.

And then to the elimination. Unsurprisingly, Scott and Slater and Muniz and Carson are the bottom two. And at the end, Scott and Slater are voted off the show. Tonight we’ll find out who will win the coveted Mirrorball prize.
