Professional fitness coach Richard Simmons has apologized for a Facebook post that led some fans to believe he was dying.

Last month, the 75-year-old fitness guru shared a concerning post in the morning on Facebook. He said, “I am …. dying.”

He went on to write about death and living life to the fullest. In his post, he wrote, “Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest every single day. Get up in the morning and look at the sky… count your blessings and enjoy.”

He continued to emphasize healthy habits. For instance, he talked about eating three meals a day.

“One healthy day of eating will lead to the next… and the next,” and then suggested dessert every “once in a while.”

He also advised his audience to stay active.

“Every day that you are alive you have got to move. Whether it is standing or sitting you have got to move your body every day. Start with stretching then cardio and strength.”

He suggested his YouTube channel for guidance on fitness.

Simmons then said that everyone should “tell the ones that you love that you love them. Hug those people and children who you really care for. A big hug really goes a long way.”

He ended his note with a last piece of advice, “Live today, and don’t forget to pray.”

The note led many to assume that Simmons was actually dying.

Later that same day, he reassured his fans on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

He wrote, “Sorry many of you have gotten upset about my message today. Even the press has gotten in touch with me. I am not dying. It was a message about saying how we should embrace every day that we have. Sorry for this confusion,” he ended the note with, “Love, Richard.”

After his post, his fans were relieved to hear the news.

“We are just happy to hear from you,” said one fan underneath the post, while others thanked him for his messages.

One of his longtime friends even stated that Simmons was “healthy and happy” and that the post was only meant to be an “inspirational message.”

Simmons recently spoke out against an unauthorized biopic starring Pauly Shore, writing on social media, “I have never given permission for this movie.”
