English musician Roger Waters was refused hotel bookings in Argentina and Uruguay due to accusations of antisemitism.

The co-founder and bassist for the rock band Pink Floyd scheduled a trip to Buenos Aires for November 21, where he was supposed to stay for two days as part of the This Is Not A Drill tour.

When he arrived, the hotels canceled his reservations and said they could not accommodate him due to a lack of availability.

The Faena Hotel canceled the musician’s reservation, and his subsequent reservation at the Alvear fell through just a few hours after being accepted.

Waters even looked for hotels in Uruguay but could not find anything available. According to the Argentinan news outlet Pagina 12, Waters said the hotels refused to provide a reason.

“I’m furious,” Waters told the outlet about the situation.

He is now forced to remain in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and has to fly to Montevideo and Buenos Aires for shows instead of staying there.

“The city of Montevideo has been closed to me; I have nowhere to stop,” he said. “I have to fly there directly on the day of the show, Friday the 17th. And I had a dinner date on the 16th with José Mujica, a friend of mine and the former president of Uruguay. And I can’t go; I can’t have my dinner with Mujica because the Israel lobby and whatever they call themselves have canceled me.”

Waters believes he has been “closed off” because of his pro-Palestinian views.

“They do it because I believe in human rights, and I speak openly about the genocide of the Palestinian people. And I’m going to continue doing it,” he says.

In a statement, Roby Schindler, the president of the Israelite Central Committee of Uruguay, accused Waters of antisemitism and taking advantage of his “fame as an artist to lie and spew his hatred towards Israel and all Jews.”

Waters responded to the claim by saying that people like Schindler are trying to silence him.

“They try to silence me because I believe in human rights, and they don’t,” he said.

Waters recently made headlines for wearing a Nazi uniform at a concert in Germany.
