NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. and Nike declared victory in a jury ruling, leaving them with $0 in damages as the $20 million lawsuit feud ends.

Beckham Jr. sued Nike in 2022, alleging breach of contract and saying the company withheld royalties. Nike countersued, declaring that the NFL star broke their deal by customizing his gloves and publicizing the contract.

“Nike is refusing to honor the deal it agreed to,” the suit stated. “Rather than continuing to pay the compensation and guaranteed royalties it is contractually obligated to pay Mr. Beckham, Nike is willfully withholding millions of dollars and inventing excuses not to pay him.”

Nike fought Beckham Jr. hard at the trial, showing photos of him covering up the swoosh logo in his glove customizations, text messages in which he appeared to understand he was violating his contract with certain gloves and text messages showing that he shared the contract with several media outlets.

Meanwhile, the NFL player’s team claimed that Nike “manufactured glove penalties to use as leverage.”

On July 18, an Oregon jury in Multnomah County Circuit Court ruled that neither side would pay the damages each sought in the breach of contract case.

The jury also ruled that neither side ever breached the contract during any step of the process.

These steps include Nike withholding royalties, Beckham Jr. customizing his gloves and the NFL player sharing the terms of the deal. The jury stated that Nike waived the right to penalize the NFL star for specific glove designs.

Beckham Jr. celebrated the jury’s verdict in an Instagram post with a photo of himself and his legal team smiling.

“JUST DO……RIGHT,” he stated in the post. “I want to take this moment to thank God, first and foremost. Thank you, Heavenly Father. I want to thank my team for every hour they have spent preparing for this case. I want to thank the jury for simply doing what’s right in a world full of wrong. My message to whoever needs this is, STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN! JUSTICE WAS SERVED!”

Nike issued a statement in which it declared that it was not found guilty of any wrongdoing and that this was not a confirmed win for Beckham Jr.

“With this verdict, all of Mr. Beckham’s claims have been decided against him without any monetary award,” the statement said. “The decision confirmed that Nike complied with its commitments. Nike is grateful to the jury and the Court for their careful attention to this case.”

While both sides are stuck in a legal draw, Beckham Jr. appealed some claims dismissed in a prior litigation.

In late November 2022, Beckham Jr. was escorted off a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, which American Airlines argued was for failing “to follow crew member instructions and refusing to fasten their seatbelts.”

The airline and police reports allege that Miami-Dade officers were called since they feared that the Miami Dolphins wide receiver was ill and “his condition would worsen through the expected five-hour flight.” However, this statement is getting pushback from him.

In February, it was revealed that Beckham Jr. and Kim Kardashian were in a secret relationship they carefully concealed out of respect for his son.

They also did it to avoid a possibly explosive reaction from Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West.
