Elon Musk’s Father Fears His Son Might Be Assassinated After ‘New Yorker’ Article

After a report that highlighted Tesla and SpaceX’s CEO Elon Musk’s influence in governmental decisions, his father, Errol Musk, says he fears that his son could be at risk of assassination.

The elder Errol criticized a recent New Yorker article that explored Musk’s influence on government decisions, specifically on the current Russia-Ukraine war. The Pentagon considered Musk an “unelected official” and had concerns about Musk’s unclear stance toward Putin due to Musk’s ever-changing public statements on the war in Ukraine.

Musk’s Starlink satellites have been crucial in the war, as Ukrainian troops have used them for communications. Troops in Ukraine dealt with a Starlink outage in October 2022, mainly because Musk was seeking federal funding after providing Starlink for free.

According to the New Yorker, the outage caused chaos between the Ukrainian army and U.S. defense officials, who were worried about Musk severing Starlink’s connection if his views changed. Starlink later inked a contract related to Ukraine communications in June 2023.

Musk’s father has criticized the piece. “It’s a hit job, a shadow government-sponsored opening salvo on Elon,” Errol told The Sun, he also described it is as “the artillery-like softening up of the enemy before the actual attack.”

Elon has a strained relationship with his father.

There have been reports that Musk has ramped up security, as he reported to have two bodyguards follow him around Twitter’s headquarters. His private jet was publicly being tracked by a Twitter account @ElonJet. The account was banned, with Musk accusing the account owner of wanting to harm him.

Errol recently described Elon’s plan to fight Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as “so high school.”
