The recent wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, both 29, has set a new standard for luxury in celebrity nuptials, with estimates placing the cost at around $600 million.

Anant, son of Mukesh Ambani, India’s wealthiest individual and chairman of Reliance Industries, wed Radhika, daughter of pharmaceutical moguls, in a star-studded ceremony in Mumbai earlier this month.

The event drew A-list celebrities from around the globe, including actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas, as well as professional wrestler John Cena. Sources close to the event revealed that some guests received extraordinary perks, including private jet transportation and expensive jewelry, in lieu of traditional monetary gifts.

The pre-wedding celebrations featured performances by an impressive lineup of international music stars. Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Andrea Bocelli, the Backstreet Boys, David Guetta, Katy Perry and Pitbull were among those who entertained guests at various events leading up to the ceremony.

Performers were paid significantly above their usual rates. Rihanna, for instance, is said to have earned over $10 million for her appearance, while Bieber reportedly received $10 million for his pre-ceremony set.

The extravagance of the wedding extends beyond the ceremony itself. Prior to the nuptials, the groom’s father gifted the couple a luxurious 10-bedroom villa with a private beach in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, valued at $80 million.

Despite the staggering price tag, financial analysts note that the estimated $600 million spent on the wedding represents a mere half percent of the Ambani family’s vast fortune.

The comes from a family of pharmaceutical tycoons, while the groom is heir to one of India’s largest empires. The groom’s mother, Nita Ambani, is a well-known philanthropist in the country.

Kim Kardashian was slammed by fans on social media for upstaging the bride by wearing red to the wedding.
