CW Teases ‘Supernatural’ Prequel Series, ‘The Winchesters’, At Upfronts

At the CW Upfronts, the cast and producers of the upcoming Supernatural spinoff show The Winchesters, made an appearance on the red carpet for their home network. The show stars Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger playing younger versions of Mary and John Winchester, who are the parents of Supernatural main characters Dean and Sam.

Jensen Ackles, who played Dean, is set to executive produce the series along with his wife Danneel Ackles. They posed with Donnelly and Rodger at the upfronts. The character of Dean also narrates the prequel series according to its official synopsis, which also reads, “The Winchesters is the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester met Mary Campbell and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.”

Ackles’ former co-stars Jared Padelecki and Mischa Collins, were also present at the Upfronts and the three of them all came together for a lightly scripted bit where they pitched phony projects to CW President Mark Pedowitz. Collins even snapped a selfie to celebrate the mini-reunion.
