Corduroy the cat has been named the World’s Oldest Cat by Guinness World Records at 26 years old.

Corduroy was born on August 1, 1989, and earned the title this June after Tiffany Two, the previous record holder, passed away after 27 years and 20 months. According to Guinness, the average domesticated cat lives about 15 years.
Corduroy is a US resident and has been with owner Ashley Reed Okura since he was just a kitten. Okura revealed that, after finding out her cat had won the title, she decided to treat him to something special: a mouse. “We are thrilled! I bought Corduroy a mouse to celebrate … it is wonderful to share him with the world,” she said.
