Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin and actress Dakota Johnson have ended their engagement after a seven-year relationship, citing conflicting schedules and differing priorities.

Martin, 47, and Johnson, 34, had struggled to maintain their relationship for several months. The pair, who began dating in 2017, are said to have quietly ended their engagement in recent weeks.

The couple have tried hard over the past few months to make the relationship work.

Martin is currently in Munich, Germany, performing with Coldplay on their Music of the Spheres World Tour, while Johnson was recently spotted in Malibu, California. The geographical distance and demanding professional schedules reportedly contributed to the couple’s decision to separate.

Martin and Johnson maintained a low public profile throughout their relationship, rarely discussing their personal lives in interviews or appearing together at high-profile events. However, Johnson was occasionally seen supporting Martin at Coldplay concerts.

The breakup news comes just months after Johnson spoke warmly about her role as a stepmother to Martin’s children, Apple and Moses, from his previous marriage to actress Gwyneth Paltrow. In a March interview with Bustle, Johnson expressed deep affection for the children, stating, “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart.”

Martin was recently in the news when Michael J. Fox joined Coldplay on stage at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK.
