Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes’ Father Arrested On DWI Charge Days Before Super Bowl
Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes‘ father was arrested on Saturday for driving while intoxicated in Tyler, Texas. After his arrest, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was released on a $10,000 bond.
According to official records, Mahomes Sr. was charged for DWI several times in the past. The former MLB pitcher has charges going back to 2012 and 2018. He spent 40 days in jail in 2019 and 2020 on the weekends.
It is unclear what led up to Mahomes Sr.’s arrest. The arrest comes eight days before Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs on February 11. Mahomes Sr.’s son is scheduled to play.
Patrick currently holds a record of four Super Bowl starts. The quarterback currently has two Super Bowl rings and two MVP trophies. His father had a baseball career from 1992 to 2003. Mahomes Sr. played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs, among others.
The Mahomes family has had its share of legal headaches in the last year. Jackson Mahomes, Patrick’s brother, was accused of assaulting a restaurant owner, but the charges were later dropped after the woman refused to testify in court.
