Chelsea Clinton has announced that she will write a year’s worth of children’s books that empower women throughout 2022. Clinton, the only child of former President Bill Clinton and the former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has made a name for herself as an author of nonfiction children’s novels, particularly those that focus on the empowerment of women.

Clinton wrote her first children’s book in September 2015, It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired and Get Going. The book was a 400-page novel that introduces middle school students to a variety of social issues. Clinton wrote her second book in May 2017, She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World. Clinton’s book proved to be extremely successful, even becoming a bestseller. The novel was inspired by the popular social media phenomenon. Clinton has continued the She Persisted book series with She Persisted in Sports: American Olympians Who Changed the Game in 2020.

Clinton has expressed her excitement in continuing her book series as well as the fact that she will be partnered with other established writers. “It’s always the right time to share inspirational stories about women who have persisted in science,” she said, “and it feels particularly important now to shine a light on women scientists and their contributions to our shared public health, the fight against climate change, and so much more. I’m also honored to partner with ten brilliant writers, along with Alexandra Boiger and artist Gillian Flint, to continue the She Persisted chapter book series. Together we’ll share in-depth stories about ten more inspirational women who show young readers that they can dream big, persist, and make a big difference.”
