Charlize Theron is currently recovering from minor neck surgery, according to reports.

Theron recently appeared at Variety’s 5th Annual Power of Women event where she was honored for her work as an advocate of HIV/AIDS research. At the Oct. 4 event, Theron wore a white dress with a matching scarf piece, which served to cover her small bandage.

Theron reportedly decided to finally go forward with the surgery for an injury she incurred while filming her 2005 action movie Aeon Flux. Theron was performing her own stunts on the 2004 Aeon Flux set when she landed badly on her neck after slipping during a back handspring. Theron was hospitalized after her fall and suffered a bit of nerve damage. The shoot stopped for six weeks to give Theron the time to recover and work with a physical therapist so that she could return to do her own stunts.

Now, almost ten years later, Theron underwent surgery to further repair the damage the fall had done to vertebrae.

“Charlize got injured on a set and broke a vertebrae years ago. It’s been bothering her a lot lately so she had surgery to correct it and they had to go through her neck,” a source told Us Weekly.

Though Theron has not addressed the surgery, a source says that she is perfectly fine and on her way to recovery.

“She’s fine. It was no big deal and a very minor procedure,” a source assures E! News.
