Celine Dion Struggling With ‘Stiff Person Syndrome’ Due To Lack Of Available Treatment, Sister Says

Celine Dion’s sister, Claudette Dion, shared that the singer is currently struggling with her health battle. She has been looking for treatment for her “stiff person syndrome” diagnosis but has had no luck so far.

Claudette revealed that they have been working alongside “the top researchers in the field,” in an interview with Le Journal de Montreal. The singer has had little improvement since she was diagnosed.

”We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,” Claudette said.

Stiff person syndrome is a rare disorder that interacts with a person neurologically. It only occurs in one in a million people worldwide. This causes stiffness in the legs, arms and torso.

After her diagnosis, Celine had to shift all her attention to her health, forcing her to cancel her Courage World Tour. She announced the news “with tremendous disappointment” in May.

The statement was released on social media read: “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%. It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again.”

Claudette noted, “I honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond, she always tries to be the best and top of her game. At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.”

Their other sister, Linda, has become Celine’s caretaker and they currently are living together in Las Vegas.

While Celine is struggling, her family is keeping their hopes up and has “trust” that her condition will improve.

Celine first shared her diagnosis in December 2022 and revealed that she was “dealing with problems with [her] health for a long time.”
