Celebrities have taken to Twitter to wish their fans a happy St. Patrick’s Day. Here’s a look at some of the best.
Chaka Khan humorously wrote, “When your name makes you the target of holiday memes…LMAO!” The singer accompanied the tweet with a photo of herself dressed all in green with the word “Leprekhan” written across.
“Green is good. Happy #StPatricksDay,” wrote Elizabeth Banks alongside a photo of herself in costume as a green villain. Former One Direction member Niall Horan invited everyone to join in on the Irish festivities of today. “Happy paddys days to all the lovely Irish people all over the world and anyone else who wants to join us,” he wrote, with a dozen beer emojis. He followed that up saying he Googled St. Patrick’s Day to see what was going on in the world to celebrate, and “first thing that’s pops up is a picture of me. Hahahaha, people literally must believe in leprechauns when they look at me,” the singer joked.
Astronaut Terry Virts, known as @AstroTerry on social media, posted a photo of Ireland from space to wish his followers a happy day.
The ACLU took the opportunity to post an old job description that stated, “No Irish need apply.” “This vintage @nytimes ad reminds us that our country has a long history of discriminating against immigrants.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump took to Twitter to write only to his friends – “Happy Lá Fheile Phadraig to all of my great Irish friends!”
Others who joined in on the fun included Nicki Minaj, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Reese Witherspoon, and Paul McCartney, all writing a simple message of “Happy St. Patrick’s Day.”
