Carly Rae Jepsen, the “Call Me Maybe” singer, proved she belonged more in the recording studio than on the pitchers mound when she threw possibly the worst first pitch ever to kick off the game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros on Sunday.

Sporting a #8 Rays Jersey, Jepson took to the mound at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. After winding up and releasing the ball, it lofted in the air briefly before it landed just a few yards beyond the pitcher’s mount and rolled out to the first base line. Pitcher Matt Moore, attempting to track down the rogue ball, nearly slid before catching himself and walking over to pick it up.

Being a good sport, Jepsen took to Instagram to share photos of the embarassing incident with her followers, which she captioned, “A before and after. Me taking the mound. Me knocking the camera out of the photographers hands with the baseball. And me getting a sympathy hug from the catcher. Omg.”

Jepsen, 27, had thrown a far more successful first pitch before a Baltimore Orioles game in April. Furthermore, according to one of the Tampa Bay Rays’ commentators, she was throwing strikes while warming up for the big moment on Sunday.
