Cannes Winners Announced, U.S. Films Lose Big

Brad Pitt, Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron were all well-received at the Cannes International Film Festival in the French Riviera for acclaimed flicks such as Killing Them Softly and The Paperboy, but they still went home empty-handed after the 12-day film fest.

The coveted top prize of Palme d'Or (Best Film) went to Michael Haneke for the Austrian film, Amour, and other categories were distinctly devoid of top Hollywood A-listers. Danish star Mads Mikkelsen nabbed the Best Actor prize for his role as a man falsely accused of child abuse in The Hunt, and Romanian film Beyond The Hills earned both Cosmina Stratan and Cristina Flutur a dual award for Best Actress.

Read here for a list of big winners:

Palme d'Or (Best Film): Amour (Austria) by Michael Haneke

Grand Prix (Runner-up): Reality (Italy) by Matteo Garrone

Jury Prize (Third Prize): The Angels' Share (Britain) by Ken Loach
