Portia de Rossi is ready to become a DeGeneres. On Monday, Ellen DeGeneres‘ wife asked the L.A. Country Superior Court  to legally change her last name.

The decision came just two days after a California federal judge overturned Proposition 8, which had banned same-sex marriages in California. The actress married talk-show host DeGeneres in an August 2008 ceremony, when marriage licenses were available to same-sex couples.

The name change will most likely be official after a Sept. 23 hearing. This actually won’t be Portia De Rossi’s first name change. The Australian star was born Amanda Lee Rogers. She invented her new name for her teen modeling career, and legally changed it at age 15. –ALEXA GREENBERG
