Caitlyn Jenner began this morning at 7 a.m. at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, as a part of the ANA Inspiration Pro-Am. She played in the same group as Abby Wamlach. Reportedly, she played better than the U.S. soccer legend.

Her participation was announced just last night on the LPGA’s website.

Jenner’s rep confirmed, “Caitlyn has vowed she will attend and wants to represent ladies at the event.”

A source said, “She has a strong handicap and is obviously a natural born competitor. This event is a perfect way to make her announcement to the world that she is on the golf course as a woman and wants to be treated that way.”

Although this is her first official participation in women’s golf, Jenner was an avid golfer before her transition. Last September, Jenner and Pro Danielle King played golf at the Sherwood Country Club where Jenner is a member. King came out on top and Jenner confessed that losing “ticked” her off.
