Caitlyn Jenner, who announced her transition from being known as Bruce Jenner to her new name yesterday, has not yet opted to undergo genital reassignment surgery, as for her, sex is one of the last reasons for which she decided to transition.
As part of her transition, Jenner has undergone a facial-feminization surgery and has gotten breast implants. When asked about whether or not she has – or will in the future – undergo genital surgery, Jenner explains that it’s not a priority for her.
“If you have a list of 10 reasons to transition, sex would be number 10,” Jenner told Vanity Fair.
Jenner also admitted that following the 10-hour facial feminization surgery that was only meant to take five hours, she had a panic attack, worrying about whether she’d gone too far. “What did I just do? What did I just do to myself?” she asked about the surgery, which includes charges to the hairline, forehead, jaw and chin. However, upon meeting a counselor, who told her that such reactions were normal and likely caused by the pain medication, she has been pleased with the results and her decision to transition.
“If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life,” she told Vanity Fair. “You never dealt with yourself,’ and I don’t want that to happen.”
Caitlyn Jenner’s full interview with Vanity Fair will be in the July issue that hits newsstands June 9.
