Bryan Adams Cancels Mississippi Concert Due To State’s Anti-LGBT Bill

Bryan Adams has decided not to play his scheduled concert in Mississippi later this week because of the new ant-LGBT bill signed into law.

Adams announced in a statement posted to Instagram and on his website Sunday night that he would not take to the stage at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi Thursday as scheduled due to the discriminatory “Religious Liberty” bill.

“Mississippi has passed anti-LGBT ‘Religious Liberty’ bill 1523. I find it incomprehensible that LGBT citizens are being discriminated against in the state of Mississippi,” Adams wrote. “I cannot in good conscience perform in a State where certain people are being denied their civil rights due to their sexual orientation. Therefore I’m cancelling my 14 April show at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.”

Adams added, “Using my voice I stand in solidarity with all my LGBT friends to repeal this extremely discriminatory bill. Hopefully Mississippi will right itself and I can come back and perform for all of my many fans. I look forward to that day. ‪#‎stop1523‬.”

The Mississippi law will officially take effect on July 1. North Carolina recently passed their own anti-LGBT law, House Bill 2. The law led Bruce Springsteen to cancel his scheduled show in Greensboro Sunday.
