Bruce Jenner reportedly plans to open up about his alleged transition to become a woman in an upcoming interview with Diane Sawyer after finding support from his famous family.

Diane Sawyer Lands Bruce Jenner Interview

Jenner’s likeness has been splashed across the tabloids for the last year, as he appeared to be adopting a more feminine appearance. Despite the intense spotlight, Jenner opted not to address the rumors. Now, however, the reality TV star and former Olympian is reportedly ready to talk about his desire to transition, and will tape an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, according to BuzzFeed. An ABC insider also confirmed the report to PageSix.

It’s believed that Jenner’s interview – initially expected to film in May – will be bumped up due to the increased attention on his story, particularly after his mother Esther Jenner confirmed his plans to transition. “Bruce will shoot an interview with Diane this weekend to discuss transitioning from male to female,” a source told RadarOnline. “Bruce realized that there’s no longer any need to wait since the family knows and the public is pretty much aware of what’s going on.”

The source added, “The network is going to rush it through.”

It comes as something of a surprise that Jenner would do the major interview with ABC instead of NBC, as NBCUniversal owns E!, which airs Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The decision has caused “internal consternation” in NBC’s news division, reported BuzzFeed.

NBCUniversal’s E! will, however, be airing a docuseries later this year about Jenner’s transition, as cameras have been following him and his family for the past several months. E! has not commented on the show.

Kardashian-Jenner Family’s Reaction

Prior to starting work on the docuseries and looking for an outlet to tell his story, Jenner had to come out about his transition to his family.

Bruce told them everything – where things stood, what his plans were for the future, and what everyone could expect. Everyone basically knew what was up, but it was still a shock to hear it outlined so explicitly,” a family insider told People. “They all came all around pretty quickly, but each of them had to process it in their own way. All they want is for him to be happy.”

Kim Kardashian, one of Bruce’s step-daughters through his marriage to Kris Jenner, gave Bruce her support after confirming that her mother was okay about everything that was going on. “Kim went to Kris and asked her how she felt. They had a very long conversation about it,” says the insider. “Once Kim was satisfied that Kris was emotionally okay, she was able to give Bruce her unconditional support.”

Kim’s husband Kanye West was also quick to give Bruce his support. “He is totally fine with it,” the insider says of West. “He believes in live and let live, and he took it all in stride. He and Kim are just trying to show Bruce love and acceptance – complete acceptance.”

As for Kourtney Kardashian‘s longtime boyfriend Scott Disick, he initially “didn’t react very well,” but “is now on board.”
