Britney Spears Says Doctors ‘Were Trying To Kill Me’ In New Posts
Britney Spears recalls more of her family’s abusive behaviors toward her during her conservatorship as she remembers being dragged into unwanted therapy sessions for depression.
Spears shared a long statement about her family for pretending to “help” her mental health in a series of since-deleted Instagram posts on Thursday.
“The only thing honestly disturbing about me is depression … but you don’t take people out of their homes for that !!!,” the singer wrote in her deleted posts.
Spears described her experience in a mental health facility that her family brought her to. She revealed that she checked into a program after announcing that she was taking an indefinite hiatus ahead of her planned Domination residency in Las Vegas. While she was in treatment, the #FreeBritney movement began to form and rumors about her being held in the facility against her will began circulating.
The pop star added that she was told to remain in treatment for two months and then be sent to another facility for another month. She was never told when she would be able to return home. Spears recalled sitting “in a chair for 8 hours a day” and giving “like 8 gallons of blood a week.”
“I honestly thought they were trying to kill me cuz it seemed to me like some sick joke,” wrote Spears about the doctors and nurses for being a “ploy to make others NOT better.”
Spears also recalled getting “extremely ill” in the facility and “couldn’t talk” because she was “on a high dose of lithium.”
“At one point I thought … wait do I have cancer and they don’t want me to know and this is some secret therapy for people with cancer???” she wrote.
