Britney Spears Says Father’s Criticism ‘Ruined’ Her Self-Confidence & Sex Life
In another lengthy Instagram post, Britney Spears took aim at her father Jamie Spears again and shared that the way he treated her during her 13-year-long conservatorship left a lasting impression on her psyche and self-confidence.
She first harkened back to her “rebellious” years at the age of 13 when she felt much more self-assured even at a young age and contrasted that with the stifling conservatorship she was placed under in 2008. Spears shared that she “was always being told I was fat and never good enough! My dad always made me feel like I had to try … try … try!”
Spears said her father “ruined the deep seed of my existence,” which subsequently interfered with “my confidence … my swag … my inner dialogue … and yes even my sex life.” She even hit back at people who may accuse her of oversharing by writing, “If that makes some people feel uncomfortable … GOOD … uncomfortable conversation is great!”
As a silver lining to this situation, Spears said after ending the conservatorship, “I felt so good about myself!! And guess what … I stopped trying so damn hard and yes I entered a whole new world.” While she didn’t mention anyone else specifically besides her father, Spears also said, “the psychological damage from my dad and EVERY SINGLE F–––ING person who went along with it will always be there!!”
