Britney Spears has been left feeling “emotional” after watching the new documentary about her life. Although, she feels “hopeful she will finally be freed from the vice-like grip of her father.”
After the release of FX/New York Times documentary, Framing Britney Spears, fans and celebrities have been even more concerned about Spears. A source close to the singer revealed to Page Six that “Britney finally feels like there is light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel.”
“There are parts of the film that were too hard and emotional for her to watch – the scene that describe the most difficult times of her life, the relentless media virus and the harsh focus on her as a young mother. But, she feels, for the first time in many years, that people are on her side and things will get better for her,” the source revealed. “She hopes that, because of this, she will finally be freed from the vice-grip of her father [Jaime Spears]. She is also feeling very grateful and humbled by the public outcry, all the support from her fans and celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker who have spoken out on her behalf.”
The documentary covers the rise of Spears’ fame to her mental health struggles and the recent #FreeBritney movement.
Spears has been under a conservatorship since 2007 when she had a public mental breakdown. Her father has complete control over everything in the pop star’s life.
“He is drunk with power over Britney’s life,” the source said. “She wants to work, she wants to make music and perform but he is too controlling. He has set her up to fail. Britney hasn’t had the propper help she needs to be able to control her own finances, to fully deal with her mental health issues, to be the mother she wants to be.”
Even Spears’ boyfriend, Sam Asghari, spoke out against her father. “It’s important to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way,” said Asghari in an Instagram Story on Tuesday. “In my opinion, Jaime is a total d—.”
In November, Los Angeles courts denied Spears’ request to remove her father from her conservatorship.
