On Wednesday, pop star Britney Spears debuted a shorter new hairstyle on her Instagram, the same week her conservatorship case is set to return to California courts.

“Cut my hair!!!!,” wrote Spears in one of three photos posted to her account. “You know what they say….out with the old….in with the new!!!!! Now let is pray!!!!”

Some fans commented that they loved her new look while others were concerned about the 39 year old.

“Beautiful haircut Britney! Love this new look!,” one wrote.

“Are you ok hun?” wrote another.

Spears has been under a conservatorship since she famously shaved her head after a mental breakdown in 2007. Her father, Jaime Spears was assigned conservator with attorney Andrew Wallet to make all decisions for the singer. Wallet resigned last year leaving her father as the sole conservator. The “Hit Me Baby One More Time” singer filed court documents in August requesting that her father be removed.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny rejected Spears’ request to remove her father from her conservatorship in November. “My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father,” the “Toxic” singer’s lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, told the judge. “She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.”

Ahead of the hearing to review the handling of Britney’s assets, Jaime Spears told CNN, “I love my daughter and I miss her very much. When a family member needs special care and protection, families need to step up, as I have done for the past 12-plus years, to safeguard, protect and continue to love Britney unconditionally. I have and will continue to provide unwavering love and fierce protection against those with self-serving interests and those who seek to harm her or my family.”
