After Britney Spears deleted her Instagram account on January 25, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reportedly received calls from fans reporting “suspicious activity” regarding the pop singer. This forced them to drive by her home and initiate a wellness check on Spears.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said that they received calls to their dispatch from concerned fans and that the wellness check was completed “out of an abundance of caution” and “determined she was safe and in no danger.”
Spears issued a statement on Twitter regarding the situation.
The star asked her fans to respect her privacy, which left her feeling “gaslit and bullied” due to the incident leading to yet another negative portrayal of her in the media.
Over the past two years, Spears has been in the public spotlight due to her legal disputes over her conservatorship, which started in 2008 and was mainly controlled by her father Jamie Spears.
In June 2021, Spears made a statement in court asking to terminate her conservatorship, accusing her father, family and management of abuse.
On November 12, 2021, Judge Brenda Penny officially ended the conservatorship.
This legal battle shed light on the abuse and mistreatment Spears endured. It also led to a reevaluation of her public image, which was twisted by the media in the years leading up to her publicized breakdown.
