Brian ‘Brizz’ Gillis, Co-Founder Of Boy Band LFO, Dies At 47

Brian “Brizz” Gillis, one of the founders of the 90s boy band LFO (“Lyte Funkie Ones”), died Wednesday at the age of 47. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Fellow LFO member Brad Fischetti reflected on Gillis’ life in an Instagram post. “My relationship with Brian was complex. It contained moments of great tribulation but also of great joy… And it’s those positive aspects of our relationship that I will lean on now and forever.”

Gillis established the band with the late Rich Cronin in 1995. The group had early success with covers of the Bee Gees’ “If I Can’t Have You” and New Kids on the Block’s “Step by Step.”

Gillis left the band in 1998 before their first album was released. He was replaced by Devin Lima.

The band’s single “Summer Girls” became their biggest hit. It was known as “The Abercrombie & Fitch” song after the famous lyric, “I like girls that wear Abercrombie & Fitch.” “Summer Girls” continued to climb the charts, and its music video regularly aired on MTV. The single launched the trio’s 1999 album LFO to No. 21 on the Billboard 200.

The group went on tour and opened for Britney Spears. They then released their second album, Life Is Good, but separated in 2002.

LFO reunited in 2009 until Cronin died in 2010. Seven years later, Lima and Fischetti teamed up to write “Perfect 10.” However, Lima died from cancer the following year.
