After denying reports of divorce as late as yesterday, Eva Longoria officially filed for divorce from Tony Parker, her husband of three years, on Wednesday. She cited irreconcilable differences in her petition and asked Parker for spousal support, according to TMZ.

"It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness," she posted on Twitter.

Reports of Parker cheating on the Desperate Housewives star surfaced earlier this week. The basketball star reportedly sent hundreds of text messages to a mutual female friend for almost a year. He confessed to Longoria after the actress confronted him, according to US Weekly, which broke the news of the alleged infidelity. Longoria's rep denied divorce rumors yesterday, telling TMZ that the rumors were "100% false."

But Longoria could not get over the infidelity rumors. "Eva is heartbroken by the betrayal," an insider close to Longoria told US Weekly. Another added, "Once the trust was lost, the marriage was over."

The couple was married in Paris in 2007. Throughout their relationship, they maintained a long-distance courtship, as she was based in Los Angeles and he in San Antonio, Texas. Longoria was always very open about her devotion to her husband and her desire to start a family with Parker. –ISHITA SINGH
