Brandi Glanville Denies Being A Racist; Joyce Giraud Not Convinced
On Monday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Brandi Glanville made a comment directed at Joyce Giraud that was ignorant at best and racist at worst.
Brandi Glanville: 'You're a black person'
At Giraud’s Palm Spring residence, Glanville urged the host to join her in the pool. When Giraud declined, Glanville persisted until Giraud admitted she couldn’t swim. Glanville then replied, “You’re a black person.” After the tasteless quip, an awkward silence followed.
In the testimonial part of the episode, Kyle Richards wondered, “Did that really just come out of your mouth?”
When Glanville’s testimonial came on, she was far from apologetic. In fact, she offered a rationalization for her remark, and implied that her company had overly sensitive reactions. “It was a joke, and my black friends would have laughed crazy because they don’t go in the pool because they will get their weaves [messed] up,” she said. “All my black friends can’t swim."
Glanville & Joyce Giraud Address Fans On Twitter
After the episode aired, Glanville took to Twitter to offer an apology in which she adamantly denied being a racist – only owning her sizeable capacity for being inappropriate.
Giroud likewise took to social media to address the episode, thanking those who backed her indignation at Glanville’s comment.
I love you all my sweet lovers! You give me so much love and support! It means the world to me! I'm sending you all a big big kiss!!!!!! ❤
