Bradley Cooper To Take His Mom As His Date To The Oscars

Bradley Cooper, who is newly single, is taking his mom to the 2013 Academy Awards. In an interview with Katie Couric on her show, Katie, Cooper fielded questions, somewhat begrudgingly, about his love life. As Couric began to ask about his current relationship status, Cooper jokingly crumpled into a heap and buried his face into the couch. When Couric suggested that his love life might be less high profile if he didn’t date Hollywood stars —Cooper ended things with his on-again off-again never-official girlfriend Zoe Saldana in December — the Silver Linings Playbook star replied, “What do you mean?” and then let out a small laugh.

There was a moment when even bringing his mother didn’t seem like a sure thing because she was concerned about the media blitz of the red carpet event. However, Cooper is hoping she will reconsider. “I said, 'Look, we can’t let that bother us.' My father passed away two years ago and the idea that I’m going to the Oscars, nominated with Daniel Day-Lewis and Hugh Jackman and Denzel Washington and Joaquin Phoenix, let’s enjoy every second of this.”

Relationship “woes” aside, Cooper is on a real hot streak. In late March he will appear in The Place Beyond the Pines alongside Ryan Gosling. The wheels are also starting to turn on a deal to have Cooper star in a new comedy called Chef, Variety reports.
