Bobbi Kristina Brown Estate Files Wrongful Death Claim Against Nick Gordon

The family of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was recently laid to rest in New Jersey next to her mother, Whitney Houston, has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against her boyfriend Nick Gordon for wrongful death.

Lawsuit Claims Nick Gordon Gave Bobbi Kristina “A Toxic Cocktail”

The lawsuit was filed on Friday by Bedelia Hargrove, the administrator of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate, and it is unclear what role Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown, and aunt, Pat Houston, had in the formation of the suit.

“I am deeply saddened by the recent death of Bobbi Kristina Brown. I extend my sincerest condolences to all of her family. Consistent with and to the letter of the civil action I initially filed on behalf of Bobbi Krisitna, we will continue to pursue justice for her. I have filed today an amended complaint against Nicholas Gordon adding a count for wrongful death and for pain and suffering. We will leave no stone unturned in seeking justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown,” Hargrove said in a statement.

The estate and family of Bobbi Kristina had previously filed a lawsuit against Gordon before Bobbi Kristina’s death, claiming that he abused Bobbi Kristina before her death and accusing him of stealing over $11,000 from her while she was hospitalized. The suit also alleged that Gordon had installed cameras in Bobbi Kristina’s home without her consent so that he could “control Bobbi Kristina and benefit from her wealth.”

The estate claims that Gordon fought with Bobbi Kristina on Jan. 31, the day she was found unresponsive in her bathtub. The estate suggests that Gordon yelled at his girlfriend, calling her a “whore” and accusing her of cheating on him. The suit then states that Gordon gave Bobbi Kristina a “toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious” and “put her face down in a tub of cold water causing her to suffer brain damage.” Bobbi Kristina was later rushed to the hospital and fell into a coma from which she never recovered. She died on July 26 while in hospice care. Throughout her hospitalization and move to hospice care, Gordon was not allowed to visit Bobbi Kristina and he did not attend her funeral last weekend.

Nick Gordon Responds To Lawsuit

Gordon has not been charged with a crime regarding Bobbi Kristina’s death, and Bobbi Kristina’s estate did not provide any specific evidence to support their claims, though they did mention two other people were in Bobbi Kristina’s home on Jan. 31. Gordon’s attorneys, Joe Habachy and Jose Baez responded to the suit with a statement, calling the accusations “slanderous and meritless.”

“The recent lawsuit against Nick is slanderous and meritless. Nick has been heartbroken and destroyed over the loss of his love and it’s shameful that such baseless allegations have been presented publicly. Nick has engaged civil counsel and intends to defend the lawsuit vigorously and expose it for what it is: a fictitious assault against the person who loved Krissy most,” reads the statement.
