One of the founding coaches for The Voice, Blake Shelton, has announced his decision to leave the hit competition show following its next season after being on every season of the show since its inception.
Eight up-and-coming musicians have won The Voice with Shelton as a coach. Most recently, Cam Anthony was the winner of the 20th season of the show after being coached by Shelton.
The reasoning he gave for this decision seemed to be primarily workload.
“It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week,” Shelton said in his Instagram Story post.
He also thanked the talent that he coached, and fans of The Voice for giving him a job for so many years.
The current coaching lineup besides Shelton are John Legend, Camila Cabello and Shelton’s wife Gwen Stefani.
Prior judges on the show have included artists like Shakira, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande and Alicia Keys.
