Singer Firerose has spoken out about her ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus, after the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer’s disastrous performance during Donald Trump’s inaugural ball.

During the show, Cyrus stumbled through his performance at the Liberty Ball after technical difficulties.

“What’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced during our relationship,” Firerose told Page Six. “It’s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I’m glad the truth is coming to light. It is for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there’s a problem.”

Last week, Cyrus’ son, Trace Cyrus, wrote an open letter to his dad about his concerns for his health.

The 35-year-old star issued an emotional open letter after his father’s performance on Instagram, writing, “Since my earliest memories, all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I want to be just like you; the day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.”

“Sadly, the man I desperately wanted to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this would have beaten you down, and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this, but I couldn’t care less now. I and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years, but you’ve pushed all of us away.”

“You’re not healthy, Dad. Everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at Mamaw’s funeral when you didn’t expect me to do, I’m still here. As I write this with tears in my eyes, I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you, Dad.”
