Beyonce Thrills 2017 Grammys With ‘Love Drought’ & ‘Sandcastles’ Performance, Wins Best Urban Contemporary Album For ‘Lemonade’

Beyonce never disappoints her fans, and this time, she brought down the house once again with a colorful and bedazzled performance of two of her recent hits off her Lemonade album: ‘Love Drought’ and ‘Sandcastles.’

Beyonce Performance at 2017 Grammys

The Queen B– who was just recently announced to be pregnant with twins– was introduced by her mother Tina Knowles, and proudly displayed her baby bump as she strutted along the stage.

Beyonce– who was clad in a sparkly gold dress and matching headdress– began her set with a spoken word intro for Lemonade before delving into ‘Love Drought,’ and then the much-more sorrowful and emotional ‘Sandcastles.’ The pop sensation sat several times while placing her hand on her stomach.

The Queen B’s performance ended with a voice-over of her saying, “If we’re going to heal, let it be glorious.”

The 35-year-old mother-to-be also won the award for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade and gave a stirring, pre-written speech, which she read while husband and rapper Jay-Z and her young daughter Blue Ivy Carter watched.

“It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror — first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House and the Grammys — and see themselves,” she said.

Here is her full speech:

“Thank you to the Grammy voters for this incredible honor. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to beautifully capture the profundity of deep Southern culture. I thank God for my family, my wonderful husband, my beautiful daughter, my fans for bringing me so much happiness and support. We all experience pain and loss, and often we become inaudible. My intention for the film and album was to create a body of work that would give a voice to our pain, our struggles, our darkness and our history. To confront issues that make us uncomfortable. It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror — first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House and the Grammys — and see themselves. And have no doubt that they’re beautiful, intelligent and capable. This is something I want for every child of every race, and I feel it’s vital that we learn from the past and recognize our tendencies to repeat our mistakes.”

Beyonce entered the 2017 Grammys as the most-nominated artist of the night, with nine nods, and already won the award for Best Music Video for “Formation” in the pre-telecast. She’s also a nominee for Album, Record and Song of the Year.
