Beyoncé and Jay-Z have dropped $200 million on a Malibu mansion, now the most expensive private residence to sell in California. It is also the second highest-priced buy in the United States behind a New York City penthouse purchased by Citadel founder and CEO Kenneth Griffin for $238 million.
Their new Malibu home was designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando, known in the U.S. for building the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. He also built another Malibu home that was purchased in 2021 by Kanye West for $57.3 million. The Carters’ mansion is almost 40,000 square feet and features outdoor patios, a swimming pool, a cabana and a view of the Pacific Ocean.

The home was made for Bill Bell Jr., whose parents, William and Lee Phillip Bell, created the soap operas The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Construction took over 15 years.
In addition to their new home, Beyoncé and Jay-Z own a property in Lower Manhattan and an $88 million mansion in Los Angeles.
Beyoncé is currently on the European leg of her Renaissance World Tour. She will arrive in North America in July and wrap up in late September.
Meanwhile, Forbes estimated Jay-Z’s 2023 net worth to be about $2.5 billion. This is more than double his total since becoming a billionaire in 2019 due to his lucrative liquor business.
