Bethenny Frankel No Longer Has To Pay Child Support To Ex Jason Hoppy

A court hearing on Wednesday ruled in favor of former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel – she will no longer have to pay child support to her ex, Jason Hoppy.

The estranged couple’s divorce has been ongoing for nearly nine years. During the video hearing, Frankel’s lawyer, Allan Mayefsky, asked a judge to allow his client to stop paying child support as their daughter Bryn, 11, has chosen to live with her mother despite a 50/50 custody agreement.

Mayefsky also asked the judge to modify the custody agreement to have Bryn spend less time with Hoppy.

”We have put in a schedule that Bryn can be comfortable with that the court can order so we done have these constant fights going on,” Mayefsky said. “We need to recognize that Ms. Frankel is the primary parent… she should not be paying child support at this point.”

Frankel spoke on the video call looking poised wearing a white blouse with a black vest on top.

She told the judge the even with a new schedule, “whatever you put on paper, that’s great for structure, but she is a living, breathtaking thing, and she won’t go away.”

The parents of Bryn both explained that she has been suffering from anxiety, hyperventilation and hives, partly because of her parent’s ongoing conflict.

Frankel continued, “I want her to see her father. I know how important it is for a child to have a good relationship with both parents.”

Hoppy attended the hearing without a lawyer present and read a statement that he was not going to fight his ex-wife’s requests.

“This is not a Bryn issue or an issue that Bryn has with me,” Holly told the judge. “Therefore, I’m removing myself from this fight – for Bryn and my emotional and mental health.”

At the end of the hearing, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Katz told both parties, “I’m hoping that this will be the last time that I need to see you.”

“I hope by making a minor adjustment to the schedule, it will make things more comfortable for Bryn,” the judge said.
