Chinese drone maker DJI and Swedish medium-format camera manufacturer Hasselblad have combined forces and cooked up the world’s “first joint aerial photography package.” The A5D-M600 bundle is basically a digital camera best suited for aerial photography and a wide range of industrial applications. According to the press release, “the A5D-M600 drone combines DJI’s professional flying platform M600 and Hasselblad’s aerial medium format camera A5D.” That makes for a pretty powerful photo drone that weighs a little over 8.95 lb. when DJI’s M600 is combined with the camera, gimbal and lens.

The long-range drone is being hailed for its imaging capabilities. The 50mm f/3.5 lens is locked at infinity focus and comes fitted with a 50MP CMOS sensor. “The sensors, Hasselblad notes, are twice the size of those used in the best 35mm DSLR cameras on the market right now. If you’re looking for a collaboration of the best of both worlds, the A5D-M600 drone is probably going to be your best bet,” Engadget praised.

The A5D-M600 drone is slated to be the first of other additional joint products that showcase the best of both companies after DGI acquired a minority stake in Hasselblad. For more information check out the Hasselblad and DGI websites.
